Nutrition truths you can live by
- You don’t need to track calories or macros to lose fat.
- Tracking calories or macros does allow for a little more specificity.
- You can drink alcohol and make progress.
- Drinking alcohol may be delaying your progress.
- There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition – every single program that follows a systematic approach for all their members is a giant waste of money.
- There are still certain principles that apply across the board but they’re nothing exciting or complicated – drinking water, eating veggies, moving more, sleeping more, managing stress, and prioritizing protein.
- A calorie deficit is needed for weight loss to occur.
- Only focusing on a calorie deficit for weight loss is myopic and misses the long term sustainability factor.
- The number of meals you eat per day is largely irrelevant.
- When you eat your meals is largely irrelevant.
- The best option for number of meals and when to eat is based on personal preference and lifestyle.
- Carbs are not the devil and MOST people should be eating them.
- Fruit is delicious and nutritious … please don’t be afraid of it.
- A diet that doesn’t allow you to enjoy life and be social is a diet that will not last.
- Your mindset is more important than worrying about hitting your macros within 5 grams.
- Thinking you need to be perfect is preventing you from making progress.
- Dichotomous thinking (good vs. bad) around food is the reason you restrict and binge.
- Fat burners are a waste of money.
- Detoxes, cleanses, and reset programs are also a waste of money.
- Fasting is not magical.
- Most people would benefit from sitting with the feeling of hunger for a bit.
